India to assume the presidency of the UNSC

Tirumurti, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations   India joined the UNSC in January 2021 for a two-year term as one of the 10 rotating non-permanent members.  The ten elected or non-permanent members have a tenure of two years. At present, the non-permanent members are  Estonia, India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico, Niger, Norway, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tunisia and Vietnam .      Its previous terms were 1950-1951, 1967-1968, 1972-1973, 1977-1978, 1984-1985 , 1991-1992 and 2011-12 This is India's tenth tenure to  assume the presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of August on Sunday.  The presidency of the Council is held by each of the members in turn for one month, following the English alphabetical order of the member states' names.  India will preside over the Council again for a month in 2022. Chabahar–Zahedan-Bam-Hajigaj Railway

    India had initially proposed a plan to construct a 900-km Chabahar-Zahedan-Hajigak railway line that would connect Chabahar to the mineral-rich Hajigak region of Afghanistan. In 2011, seven Indian companies acquired rights to mine central Afghanistan's Hajigak region, which contain Asia's largest deposit of iron ore. The Government of India had pledged to spend $2bn in developing supporting infrastructure. In May 2016, an MoU was also signed for the financing of the planned Chabahar–Zahedan railway section of Chabahar–Zahedan-Hajigak railway, as part of North-South Transport Corridor , by Indian Railway 's public sector unit Ircon International . S-400 deal- India killed many birds with one stone

5th October - Indo-Russia pact on S-400 Missile, nuclear power stations, space and agriculture was signed without waiting for any approval from  Washington. In August 2017, the US passed an act CAATSA (  Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act ) and recently on 21st September imposed sanctions under the same act upon China and Russia for the deal of the same S-400 in between them. 6th October,  the US embassy clarified that CAATSA is not applicable on its strategic partners and allies and indicated no sanctions upon India Now, China is a rival and threat to the US  and India had secured a driving seat in the US-India relationship in the current scenario.
