S-400 deal- India killed many birds with one stone
5th October -
Indo-Russia pact on S-400 Missile, nuclear power stations, space and agriculture was signed without waiting for any approval from Washington. In August 2017, the US passed an act CAATSA ( Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act) and recently on 21st September imposed sanctions under the same act upon China and Russia for the deal of the same S-400 in between them.
6th October, the US embassy clarified that CAATSA is not applicable on its strategic partners and allies and indicated no sanctions upon India
- Now, China is a rival and threat to the US and India had secured a driving seat in the US-India relationship in the current scenario.
- Since the 1990s Russia was being felt eliminated from India and was drifting towards Pakistan and promoting its interests in Russia-Pak Military relationships and was not supporting India at the International forum on Kashmir Issues.
- Through this deal, our traditional ally is being brought closer and bitterness is neutralized.
- We don't have any existential conflict with China nor is there any such possibility.
- It will check the adventurism of Pakistan and will reduce any chance of threat from our neighbour.
