Haryana accepts every decision, but
no one pays attention to its needs ….
v
Now Rajasthan demanding that it is not receiving
sufficient water
v
In Haryana fields are dry even then it is quenching
thirst of Delhi.
v
In Haryana the level of water table is
continuously decreasing and consequently for irrigation, dependence on tube
wells and rain is increasing.
Chandigarh- water dispute between Haryana
and Punjab is years old, now Rajasthan has also entered in this dispute by
stating that it’s not getting sufficient water as per accord from Haryana .Surprisingly,
as per previous accords Haryana has followed each and every decision but
neighboring states had never been ready to act upon their parts.
-
It’s worth to be mentioned here that in Haryana Agricultural
land is 40 lakhs hectare Irrigated by
·
Canal -33%
·
Tube wells
-50%
·
Rainfall
-17%
Water
received by Haryana-
v From Bhakhra Management Board -9500 Cusec
v From western Yamuna Cananl (WJC)-2500 Cusec
(From Hathini kund barrage to Munak, Karnal
app.1000 Cusec water seeps into soil , so only 1500 Cusec water reaches Haryana
)
Now as per Supreme Courts orders-
1035 Cusec water has to be supplied to
Delhi ,even if there is lesser water in
WJC , Haryana has to give that definite amount of water .Consequently most of
the times, Haryana has to give water from its own share of Bhakhra to Munak
canal to continue full supply to Delhi.
Now subsequently , only 9965 Cusec
water is left for Haryana out of which
§
650 Cusec is supplied to Rajasthan
§
338 Cusec supplied to Sangroor , Punjab through
feeder of Fathehbad Distt.
§
600 Cusec is supplied to Public Health, Haryana
for Drinking water supply
Therefore only 8377 Cusec water is
available for irrigating agricultural land in Haryana.
Now Rajasthan is raising the demand and
stating not getting enough supply from Haryana . Rajasthan is receiving water
from Kishangarh sub-branch ,Nahur Feeder, Barawali and Siddmukh canal. As per
irrigation department, during course, due to illegal broadening of outlets in Haryana
sufficient water is not reaching Rajasthan. Irrigation department is unable to
control this water theft (generally done at night in Haryana)
-
Rajasthan takes water from –
-
200 Cusec from Nahur feeder
-
100 Cusec Baruwali and
-
350 Cusec from Kishangarh sub-branch
and Siddmukh canal
-
-
Now BJP MLA Abhishek Matoria along with other
BJP MLAs and few farmers from Rajasthan
met with officials of Irrigation
Department, Haryana in Chandigarh . Here
they have rised this question that due to insufficient supply from Haryana,
they are facing a serious water crisis .Engineers, Haryana had paid attention
to their demands.

Now important point is Haryana is not fighting
strongly for its rights over water against neighboring states. For example, the
water coming from Aukhla, Delhi to Gurugram canal contains lots of chemicals
which is harmful for agricultural land. But Haryana has never raised its voice
or pressurized Delhi to act accordingly. This issue is raised many times in
Haryana assembly but still no permanent solution to resolve it had come ever. In
fact, as a group of representatives from Rajasthan visited Haryana, similarly
leaders from Haryana should pressurize neighboring states by visiting them.
